You don't take a 4 hr mini-series and make a 2 hour movie
Thank-you Amazon for this review system. I was tempted to buy this once I found it online and I decided for sure I will not. I cannot believe in addition to changing the made-for-TV mini-series title from Children of the Dust they also edited it down to nothing. There is a reason it was a mini-series! There is to much character development to do and it was nice to see the plot cover such a long period of time. I loved it on TV when I was 16, had a friend record it on their VCR (ours was broken at the time) and she was trying to edit out the commercials and ended up missing a main scene! So even my recording (also done off a channel with poor reception so there is snow in the recording) is as terrible as this DVD sounds! :( To bad with some big names in it that this was never given proper archive recording (full version on DVD).A Good Day To Die

Incredible Movie
I live in the US but have the Region 2 DVD which runs at 175 minutes instead of the 120 minutes like the ones sold here. I wanted this movie so badly I took a chance on e-bay a few years ago and bought it from someone in the UK. Guess what? It works great on my DVD player. Apparently, if you are lucky, you can get a DVD player that plays the Region 2 DVD's. My DVD player is a JVC that I bought at Circuit City a few years ago. I was so glad because I couldn't stand the thought of getting the watered down version.A Good Day To Die

If only this were the Children of the Dust-4 hour version...
I watched this mini series when it first aired and loved it! I've been hoping whoever decides to put this stuff on dvd would come to their senses and put the 4 hour mini-series on dvd, instead of this watered down version they are selling, A Good Day to Die. I have seen Children of the Dust dvds offered on ebay but they are like region 2 or 4 and won't play on US/Canada dvd players. It almost makes me want to invest in an all region dvd player!!!A Good Day To Die

Thought about this movie since the age of 15...
I first saw this movie back in 1995 when it aired on TV. I was then only 15 years old. I shrugged off hanging out with friends, doing homework, finishing my chores all for the sake of watching this... and wow, it sure was worth it. Now almost 10 years later, I found myself thinking about that movie, 'Children of the Dust'... and decided to get on the 'net and check it out. Well, I found it, though it was hard, since the name was changed. But wow! You can't imagine how happy I was to find it when I did! I'm thrilled to own the movie now, so that I can watch it when I please. Though, along with others, I too am dissapointed that they cut and edited this movie almost down to nothing. There was really no reason to do so. Too many vital scenes were cut... that's why I'm only giving this movie 4 stars instead of five.A Good Day To Die
