Customer Reviews for
Sara Ivanhoe's 20 Min Yoga Makeover - Power Beauty Sweat
I must be in better shape than I thought
I found this video to be a lot easier than I had expected and did not break much of a sweat. But I did enjoy the twists and poses she chose and will do this video again. I will just have to do some weights or another video after to feel that I've really done some work. All in all, Sara is a good teacher with a pleasent attitude but I did notice the left side not getting as much time as the right. (althought it was slight)Sara Ivanhoe's 20 Min Yoga Makeover - Power Beauty Sweat
A nice surprise!
For a while I've been on the lookout for shorter practices for busy days, but I held off on buying this one because I thought the title implied an over-emphasis on physical toning, etc., to the detriment of the `yogic' element. However, re-reading previous positive reviews here persuaded me to buy, and I must say I'm very pleased with my purchase. The 20 minutes are packed with interesting poses, nicely sequenced. I haven't come across Gate pose (which can be stepped up to Side Plank if you're more advanced) on a DVD before, and the twist added to Chair pose rings a pleasant change. Eagle doesn't feature all that often in other workouts either, and here it leaves me feeling amazingly grounded. The routine finishes off with Dolphin, another rare one. Sara Ivanhoe's instruction style is gentle but precise. It's nice to be able to feel stretched, strengthened and refreshed after only 20 minutes. A very useful DVD.Sara Ivanhoe's 20 Min Yoga Makeover - Power Beauty Sweat
Beginner Friendly
I give this DVD 5 stars. That said, I can see how other might not feel challenged enough by it. I'm a beginner and not in the greatest shape. This video was challenging for me, yet easiest enough that I could make it all the way through. Sara does give variations a few times for the more advanced yogi. I did break a small sweat and felt refreshed afterwards. I'll continue to do this DVD and recommend it to other beginner/intermediates. It's great when you're crunched for time.Sara Ivanhoe's 20 Min Yoga Makeover - Power Beauty Sweat
Sara's quick workouts
I love this DVD. It is quick, and although it seems to be very easy, I have seen noticable, physical results from using her 20-minute videos 3 days a week.Sara Ivanhoe's 20 Min Yoga Makeover - Power Beauty Sweat
For beginners who have decent muscle tone who want balance/twisting poses, not sweat
This is set on a glass in a tropical area with an ocean behind. Sara is alone teaching & no props are used. The dvd comes in 2.0 & 5.1 dolby & has health tips & for washing your mat.
After the 1 min intro, the warm up is simple seated side stretches & twisted sage for 2 min.
For 4 min, you then are kneeling on one leg & straight on the other, more side stretches & side plank (need good arm strength to hold whole body on one hand & sides of feet.)
Next for 3 min is wide legged forward bend, then some simple breathing with arm movements in mountain stance. Then a mountain stance w/arm movements of warrior II.
Next is twisted chair pose, then eagle for 3 min.
Next is downward dog, simple lunge, hamstring stretch, cow stretch which is like indian style butterfly stretch for 4 min.
Next is dolphin which is like downward dog on your elbows with raising one leg at a time for stretch & strengthening. Last is kinda a cobra & pulling on your feet for stretching your quads for 3 min.
It ends in a seated meditation/mudra with your fingers in a simple pose.
The hardest part for me was the side plank only on my left hand. I didn't sweat at all or barely work except for that. When she did mountain style w/warrior 2 hands, I did regular warrior 2 & seemed to do it more deeply then she showed. I have been doing yoga 1-2x/week for about 5 years & consider myself a beginner/intermediate in terms of strength but even better flexibility.
I had trouble with getting into this dvd because I could tell she seemed distracted & not into the routine & nor is she new with the camera. The whole point of yoga is the flexibility AND being more aware of the moment & your body.
You can see trailers of her 5 other yoga dvds on collagevideo com & see a trailer of this at guba comSara Ivanhoe's 20 Min Yoga Makeover - Power Beauty Sweat
