A flawed but stylish adaptation of the Chester Gould comic strip by director Warren Beatty, who also stars in the title role. The minimalist plot involves a battalion of baddies who confront the intrepid detective in a series of strung-together vignettes. Al Pacino is a comedic if overblown standout as Big Boy Caprice, and Madonna simply smolders as aggressive blonde bombshell Breathless Mahoney. It matters not that the plot is Spartan, as this dazzling eye candy is much enhanced by Stephen Sondheim's songs, including the Academy Award-winning ditty, "Sooner or Later (I Always Get My Man)." Beatty took his cue from the source material and concentrated on the relationships between these people, whether strained, romantic, or hateful. The performances are subtle and more amusing than you would expect from such a visually bold picture. Shot in bright, primary colors, this also won Oscars for Best Art/Set Direction and Makeup (for those inventively hideous criminals). Watch for well-known names, such as Dustin Hoffman and Dick Van Dyke, in cameo appearances and supporting roles. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Love This Movie
This Movie is an old time favorite all the characters from warren Beatty, to Madonna and My Favorite Al Pacino this movie has it all. I would reccomend it to any one young and old! I could and will watch this movie over and over again.Dick Tracy
A Great Version Of A Classic Comic Book Character Brought To The Big Screen!!
I had to revisit this movie almost 20 years later
to really grasp the film makers vision of this old
comic book classic!--Warren Beatty, Al Pacino,
Dustin Hoffman and the other cast members all pull off
stellar depictions of the classic arch-villians that generations
from the late 30's to the 60's grew up on!
The real catalyst that brought all of this together
though was the excellent make-up, costuming and cinematography!
--Just stellar!!--Even Madonna did a good job as "Breathless Mohoney"
--Her and Beatty were hot and heavy during this time
and she was in the midst of her "Blonde Ambition
/ Truth Or Dare" period!!--Can U Say Femme Fatale?
If you get into comic characters brought to life in
a believable fashion, then this is great for your collection!Dick Tracy
watercolored up the yin yang!
if you sit through this movie and don't enjoy it...then you're a fool! Warren Beatty at what i think is his best! an all star cast, hoffman, pacino, madonna, caan, and the other people! The movie was non-stop entertainment and really captured the feel of the comic strips.Dick Tracy

Dick Tracy is an action packed classic detective story. The movie features loads of bad guys that each has a unique visual presence throughout the movie. Warren Beatty gives a realistic and believable performance as Dick Tracy himself. For those looking for some nostalgic Madonna action, look no further. She's stylish and sexy in those black outfits she wears.
