The 1982 sequel to Airplane! is basically more of the same class-clown ironies but with a more forced feeling to the jokes. In the first film, veterans such as Peter Graves, Robert Stack, and Lloyd Bridges were feeling their way through self-parody, and the air of experimentation was part of the fun. By this film, however, everybody knows what's up, and the assuredness of new cast members Raymond Burr, William Shatner, and Chuck Connors is almost counterproductive. Still, there's lots to laugh about. --Tom Keogh

Customer Reviews for Airplane II: The Sequel

AIRPLANE II
I DIDN'T THINK THAT THEY COULD MAKE A SEQUEL THAT WOULD BE AS GOOD AND FUNNY AS THE FIRST!!! NONE STOP LAUGHTER!!! FOR ALL AGES AND ALL SOCIAL LEVELS FROM BLONDS TO ROCKET SCIENTIST!!! WELL KNOWN AND LOVED BY ACTUAL PILOTS AND ANY IN THE AIRLINES WORK FORCE!!!Airplane II: The Sequel

Funny, even after almost 25 years
I remember seeing this movie as a teenager and remembering how funny it was, as was the original Airplane!. My husband and I decided to buy it recently (2008) and haven't regretted it. The jokes are still funny even after all this time. Some of the younger crowd won't get some of the jokes (such as the gentleman singing "The Love Boat"), but for those born before 1980, it's a riot.

You must like physical humor and silly humor. If you don't like that kind of humor - don't bother.Airplane II: The Sequel

But They're Not On an Airplane!
I was extremely disappointed with Airplane II: The Sequel. The first one was great, and I'd watch it over and over again. But since I've seen the sequel, it hasn't been as funny. The sequel's pretty unoriginal and the replayed humor detracts from its predessor it's the same love story, and a smattering of redone scenes. (Rember the old woman who hung herself?) I wouldn't buy this one. In fact, I wouldn't even spend the money to rent it on DVD; save yourself a few bucks, rent it on VHS.Airplane II: The Sequel

Good Movie - Funny Jokes - Something Missing ???
I loved the first Airplane! and this was pretty good too :) But something was missing from this to take it to the top of my movie list. Maybe Leslie Neilsen not being in the cast had something to do with it but overall this movie is a great Saturday night treat :)

A lot of the jokes are funny and I love the physical and visual gags that they do just like in the original.

Overall I'd say rent it, buy it cheap, or watch it on TV. If you liked the first you'll probably like this one too, but as with my suggestion when watching Monty Python's Holy Grail, you might want to be high when you watch itAirplane II: The Sequel
